As South Korea and Singapore proudly mark 50 years of diplomatic friendship this year, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea is pulling out all the stops for a language and culture celebration you won’t want to miss! Enter Korea Language Week 2025 — an exciting showcase of the beauty, versatility, and vibrancy of the Korean language.
Happening from 17 to 31 May 2025, Korea Language Week is one of the highlight events as part of the ‘Korea Weeks in Singapore’ celebrations, and it invites everyone — from fluent speakers to curious beginners — to discover the joy of the Korean language through four engaging and enriching activities.
1 – K-Speech Contest
Held at the Korean Embassy, this is your stage to shine. Participants will deliver a 3-minute speech (in Korean!) on meaningful topics like promoting Korea-Singapore ties or spreading the Korean language. Winners walk away with amazing prizes, including the Samsung Galaxy S25! Time to flex those oratory skills and get inspired!
The deadline to register and submit your manuscript has been extended to Sunday, 11 May 2025, at 11:59 PM.
2 – Acrostic Poem Challenge: 삼행시 챌린지
If creativity is more your thing, then try your hand at writing an acrostic poem around this year’s theme — ‘동반자’ (Companions). It’s entirely online, so you can join from anywhere! The best poems will be featured on the Embassy’s social media on 30 May 2025 (Friday), and yes, there are dining vouchers up for grabs!
Deadline to register and submit your entry is 27 May 2025 (Tuesday), 23.59PM. Do note that only one entry is allowed per participant.
3 – Korean One-Day Class
Absolute beginners, this one’s for you! If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring Korea (or understanding your favourite K-drama lines), sign up for this fun, crash course in Survival Korean for Travelling. Learn greetings, key phrases, and travel essentials in a friendly classroom setting at Korea Plaza. Two time slots are available, but you can only choose one — so pick wisely!
Sessions available: 20 May 2025 (Tuesday), 10AM – 11.30AM / 27 May 2025 (Tuesday), 7PM – 8.30PM
4 – Golden Bell Challenge
Ready to go head-to-head with other Korea fans in a thrilling quiz showdown — all in Korean? Then mark your calendars for this exciting event at Korea Plaza. The winner will represent Singapore in Korea at KBS’s renowned ‘Quiz on Korea’ show, with flights and hotels fully sponsored. It’s more than a challenge, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
