The 28th edition of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) will be held from 4th to 14th July 2024, with the theme, ‘Stay Strange,’ and the opening ceremony will be held at the Bucheon Arts Center for the first time since it opened last May.
This year, the festival has expanded its scope by launching a new AI section in alignment with the AI era, introducing the first international AI film competition section in a Korean international film festival. There will also be an AI conference and a hackathon-style AI workshop to explore the potential of artificial intelligence and challenge existing limitations.
Festival-goers will be able to enjoy 253 films from 49 countries during the festival, and a whole range of audience events with its ‘Carnival in July,’ a three-day outdoor event with various activities, including dance parties, water gun fights, interactive playgrounds, and a special interactive event called ‘Spot Tour: Celeb Paparazzi,’ where participants visit various BIFAN spots, collect stamps, take photos, and experience being a celebrity.
