Korea Takes Center Stage at AFCC 2025: Celebrating 50 Years of Korea–Singapore Friendship Through Children’s Literature

This May, the Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC) 2025 will shine a spotlight on Korea as its Country of Focus, commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Singapore. From 22 to 25 May, the National Library Building in Singapore will host a vibrant showcase of Korean children’s literature, featuring esteemed authors and illustrators who will delve into the rich tapestry of Korea’s storytelling traditions.

A Celebration of Korean Creativity

AFCC 2025 embraces the theme of ‘Discovery’, inviting attendees to explore the multifaceted world of children’s literature. Korean creators will lead discussions on topics such as: Kidlit in a Digital World, Why We Write about Difficult Topics for Children, Traditional Motifs and Methods in Korean Picture Books, and Seeing Other Cultures Through Your Own.

These sessions, conducted in Korean with English interpretation, offer a unique opportunity to engage with Korea’s literary landscape.

These translated works will be unveiled during the COF Korea Night on 23 May and distributed through local reading initiatives in both countries .
