In celebration of 50 years of diplomatic ties between Singapore and South Korea, the Singapore Korean Film Festival 2025 is shining a spotlight on homegrown creativity with its latest initiative — a Short Film Competition designed for local storytellers and Korea enthusiasts alike.
Open exclusively to Singapore citizens, this competition invites participants to submit original short films (between 2 to 30 minutes) that express what Korea means to them. Whether it’s the influence of K-pop, a memory from a soul-searching trip to Jeju, the taste of kimchi stew that reminds you of comfort, or a story about friendship that transcends cultures — the stage is yours.
Theme: Korea Through Your Lens – Show Us Your Korea
Submission Deadline: 31 July 2025
Prize: A round-trip to the 2026 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) — one of Asia’s most prestigious film events.
This competition isn’t just about filmmaking – it’s a heartfelt cultural exchange, marking five decades of deepening friendship between the two nations. It’s also a chance for fans of Korean cinema, drama, music, and culture to step behind the camera and turn their passion into visual storytelling.
Organized by the Singapore Film Society, the competition is a part of the broader ‘Korea-Singapore 50’ celebrations, a year-long series of events bridging the two cultures through music, art, food, and now — film.
So whether you’re an aspiring director, a K-culture enthusiast with a story to share, or simply someone who’s been touched by Korean culture in your own way, this is your opportunity to let your voice — and your vision — be seen.
