Do you (or your child) have dreams of becoming a K-pop idol but the idea of moving to Korea is too daunting at the moment? If you’re based in Singapore, you’re in luck! SM Entertainment will be launching SMUniverse, Southeast Asia’s first K-pop training academy in *SCAPE this June.
Southeast Asia is one of the world’s leading regions for K-pop consumption and numerous K-pop groups even include a Southeast Asian member such as Lisa from BLACKPINK, BamBam from GOT7, Minnie from (G)I-DLE, and Nickhun from 2PM, to name a few. To meet the global demand for K-pop, SM Universe (Singapore) aims to provide aspiring K-pop artists in Singapore (and Southeast Asia) with a unique platform to realise their dreams.
The academy’s flagship programme is a 21-week intensive training focusing on developing students’ skills in vocals, dance, music production, and overall stage presence, culminating in a one-week training in the SM Universe campus in Seoul. Top students will also have the opportunity to audition with South Korean entertainment agencies!
SMUniverse (Singapore) taps on SM Entertainment’s strong legacy, having produced groups like Shinhwa, Girl’s Generation, EXO, NCT, and aespa, and will provide local and regional K-pop aspirants with first-class comprehensive learning opportunities developed and delivered by K-pop industry veterans.
For those who are still unsure if the idol life is for them, or if you’d just like to enhance your skills, short-term programmes will also be available at the academy!
