It was a night down memory lane for many old(er) Kpop fans as Infinite came back to Singapore after 10 years for their 15th anniversary concert LIMITED EDITION! Held at The Star Theatre, the intimate concert venue allowed for Infinite to get upclose and personal with their fans on the ground floor throughout the night, much to the delight of Inspirits.
The sold-out concert with more than 5,000 people in attendance was filled with hit songs, cool choreography, lots of jokes and attempts at Singlish, and a lot of fanservice. Without even realising it, the concert ended up being 3.5 hours long with a set list of 27 songs which was a good mix of their title tracks like The Chaser, Paradise, Nothing’s Over, Come Back Again, and also newer songs like Sad Loop and New Emotions.
As someone who used to religiously watch Korean music shows back in the 2000s and 2010s, it was nostalgic to watch Infinite perform their older songs, and I was personally thrilled to see the choreography for The Eye live with my own eyes! I’m sure everyone who attended the concert has their own personal favourite moment, but that performance was mine.
In addition to performing their songs, the Infinite members all did a solo stage each, in their own style, which was really fun to watch as you can see each member’s unique personality shine through. Sungyeol took the opportunity during his solo stage to interact with fans on the ground as he entered from the side door and walked through the seats, even stopping to take some selfies with lucky Inspirits! Can I just say that Infinite’s fanservice is truly amazing and a testament to how much they trust their fans. You don’t see this level of interaction between idols and their fans all that often, so it was really heartwarming to watch.
If you’re not familiar with Infinite, the members are actually quite fun and witty, something I learnt through the concert. You can tell that they have very good rapport by the way they tease each other (then again, it’s difficult to last 15 years as a group if you don’t like your members) much to the delight of fans. As usual, the members included Singlish phrases during their talk segments, with the members asking, “hoseh bo?” repeatedly, and some members also calling their fans “chio bu” and “yan dao”. I’m sure the translator had a challenging time interpreting because the members kept talking over one another excitedly (and possibly forgetting that there’s a translator…). That’s just how much fun the members have with one another, and with their fans.
As the concert was held the day before Woohyun’s birthday, we got to celebrate his birthday early with the members too, complete with a birthday cake on stage and fans holding up placards with the message, “Happy birthday to Nam Woohyun, the man we choose.”
Another thing I learnt through the concert is that Inspirits chant-sing “Come Back Again (다시 돌아와)” as their way of calling for an encore which I think is really cute!
The concert was so fun that time flew by and I didn’t even realise that the concert was way longer than the expected 2 hours (which is the standard duration for concerts) until I looked at my phone after the members left the stage. Let’s hope that Infinite will come back again for another concert soon, and not another 10 years later…
Infinite debuted in 2010 under Woollim Entertainment with the EP First Invasion which included the title track, “Come Back Again.” The group currently consists of members Sungkyu, Dongwoo, Woohyun, Sungyeol, L, and Seongjong, and all group activities are managed by their own agency Infinite Company.
