After almost 10 years away, Apink finally returned to Singapore with their highly anticipated Pink New Year concert, and if there’s one way to describe it — it was pure, unadulterated, delightful chaos. From meme-worthy moments to emotional performances, the night proved why Apink remains one of K-pop’s most beloved girl groups.
Opening with a trio of songs, “Only One,” “Remember,” and the iconic “Mr. Chu,” Apink wasted no time setting the stage for a night of fun and pure entertainment.
They kicked things off with high energy and lots of laughs, especially when they praised their translator — who even sang with them, officially earning the title of the “unofficial 6th member” of the group.
A Play with Singapore’s Chilli Crab
Apink took a redeye flight to Singapore and immediately set out for the full local experience — cue chilli crab for Eunji, Namjoo, and Hayoung. This led to one of the most iconic moments of the night when Eunji declared: “My chilli crab go to my face.”
Namjoo chimed in with: “Oh, chilli crab is so beautiful,” to the amusement of fans. Their solution to not waking up with swollen faces after a night of feasting? At least for Eunji and Namjoo, it was hitting the gym right after eating.
Bomi and Chorong didn’t join the chilli crab escapade because Chorong really wanted to go for a swim. “How was it,” Eunji asked, leading to Chorong confessing to laughter that she actually can’t swim. She just wanted to enjoy Singapore’s warm weather in the pool because of the contrasting freezing cold in Korea.
A ‘Home Alone’ Parody Complete with YouTube Games
Who knew Apink had an entire comedy sketch hidden up their sleeves? Fans were treated to an absolutely ridiculous (but amazing) “Home Alone” video parody starring:
- Namjoo as Kevin (main character energy, obviously)
- Eunji as the pigeon lady
- Chorong as… a literal pigeon (yellow
beaklips included) - Bomi and Hayoung as the iconic Thieves Harry and Marv
The commitment to the bit was real. The audience couldn’t believe their eyes as Namjoo fought off burglars with the help of a life-sized pigeon and her pigeon lady bestie. In the end, the members took turns playing games like blind-tasting snacks, and catching balloon rings with a reindeer hat to win a chance to transform back to the beautiful idol singers that they are.
Solo Stages That Showed Off Apink’s Power
In between impressive group performances, each member also took the stage for their own solo segments, reminding fans just how versatile Apink truly is:
- Bomi delivered a fiery, attitude-filled performance of Sam Smith’s “Unholy.”
- Chorong surprised everyone by going full pop diva with Britney Spears’ “Gimme More.”
- After two sultry stages, Eunji wowed the crowd with her powerful vocals during her cover of Day6’s “Time of Our Life” even handing a bouquet to a lucky fan — though she made it clear, “Not propose, don’t get the wrong idea.”
- Hayoung oozed confidence with her take on “Lady Marmalade.”
- Namjoo absolutely slayed Tyla’s “Water,” later asking fans if her silver outfit was a good choice (spoiler: it was a resounding yes).
Each performance was a reminder that Apink isn’t just about nostalgia from the mid 2010s — they’re still pushing creative boundaries and delivering top-tier performances. It helps, of course, that every stage was such a delight to Pandas that they were cheering the whole way.
Tears, Laughter, and A Whole Lot of Love
As the night drew to a close, Apink teased fans about how well they pretend to be sad when they announce their “last song” — even though everyone knew an encore was coming.
Fans, however, had their own surprise — a touching video filled with heartfelt messages and appreciation for Apink, showcasing moments where Apink had brightened their lives even from across the ocean. The love was so overwhelming that even Eunji, who rarely cries, was visibly moved to tears.
The members expressed their deep gratitude, sharing how much it meant to reunite with their Singaporean fans after such a long time. Perhaps they were reminiscing on the decade they had spent together. The atmosphere was electric with love, a shared wave of emotion surging through the venue, even as they performed “No No No” to start rounding off the night.
Apink’s New Year: A Concert to Remember
Apink’s Pink New Year in Singapore wasn’t just a concert — it was a ride. The night had everything. Fans left the venue buzzing, complete with a photo card as a parting gift, knowing they had just witnessed something truly special. It brought Christmas well into February, as everyone left with a festive spirit bubbling in their hearts.
If this is how Apink kicks off 2025, what could the rest of the year have in store? Some new music, maybe? And to whoever caught that bouquet — congrats! (But seriously, it’s not a proposal.)
