(x)clusive!: DPR Regime reunites with Dreamers in Singapore for an intimate show after 2 long years

2 years never felt this long.

DPR Regime was in town this month for DPR – The Dream Reborn World Tour 2024 in SINGAPORE, 2 years since their previous show in 2022.

Despite the more creative stage set-up for this year’s edition, the absence of fellow member DPR LIVE could be greatly felt. While DPR LIVE is currently on hiatus from the DPR collective to focus on his own projects, DPR ARTIC, also goes by his birth name Kim Youngwoo, officially joined DPR IAN and DPR CREAM from the start of the DPR – The Dream Reborn World Tour. We were excited to see the synergy with this new collaboration.

Dreamers (collective fandom name for fans of the DPR Regime) filled the venue with their screams and cheers when DPR ARTIC kicked off the concert to his DJ set. Accompanied by the use of fancy laser colours throughout his entire set, DPR ARTIC transformed Singapore Expo Hall 7 into an Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival where fans looked like they were partying to the beats of his music. The cheers were deafening when DPR ARTIC dropped the beats for Do Or Die (feat. DPR IAN), showing the popularity of a song that has already garnered more than 8 million streams on Spotify.

While DPR ARTIC adopted a more futuristic concept in the videos playing in the backdrop, DPR CREAM’s concept for his performance set gave off a sentimental historical city vibe. We’ve got to say we could see how intentional the use of the lights and background video were for every song in DPR CREAM’s set because they match up so well. DPR CREAM’s stage presence this tour was significantly different as he hyped up the crowd with both his singing and DJ-ing for most of his setlist. We’re giving a shout out to how smoothly this man transitioned to his next song “I miss you” during his small talk when he commented how it has been 2 years since his last performance and missed Singapore so much.

Slick.

You just know who the man of the night is when the decibels of the screams gradually increase despite not having lights being switched on momentarily. DPR IAN’s grand entrance felt like a page out of a fantasy novel that could be a cross-over of Twilight and The Greatest Showman. Making use of his silhouette against the video background of a dark forest, DPR IAN kicked off his set to the loudest screams and cheers that evening. Song after song, DPR IAN didn’t seem to be extremely tired out despite not taking any breaks in between 3-4 songs before a short talk.

We would like to point out how we love the use of dancers for several songs which helped to bring the lyrics to life and could be seen as DPR IAN’s intention to strike a balance between songs that were alright without choreography or does not have choreography for the entire song. DPR IAN’s choice to have a live band was an immaculate choice that boosted the audio experience in the concert venue.

As much as DPR IAN was visually appealing to the audience since the demands for him to take off his clothes lasted throughout the whole evening, what possibly made Dreamers love DPR IAN more were the words of affirmation, encouragement and how genuine he was during his talk segments. He had a lot of aegyo, or maybe we can say affection, in his replies when he attempted to respond to the comments his fans screamed across the crowd. What left the deepest impression from the talk segment was how DPR IAN shared some personal notes on how one has to give affection to receive in return and emphasized on the importance of having self love before transiting to the song titled “I am Nobody” from his upcoming album due for release in 2025.

Melts.

As a regular concert-goer, “DPR – The Dream Reborn World Tour 2024 in SINGAPORE” was a living art piece on its own which embodied every kind of art you can think of. This includes the aspect of music, instruments , vocals, visual arts, lights, production, camera work and the list goes on.

This concert ultimately was a personal and intimate show exclusively for the fans since any regular concert goer would need to have an acquired preference in appreciating DPR’s music and interest in witnessing the collectives’ dedication to each of their own craft.
