South Korean actor Byeon Woo Seok was in Singapore at the end of June to meet his fans at his 2024 Byeon Woo Seok Asia Fanmeeting Tour “Summer Letter”. Just months ago, the model-turned-actor would have never imagined that the role he played in the sweet time-travel drama “Lovely Runner” was a prelude to what was about to happen in real life. Being suddenly propelled into stardom on an international scale, the 33-year-old shared his gratitude at being able to meet his overseas fan through this Asia tour.
The surreal feeling both the actor and the approximately 3,200-strong audience in Singapore had was probably mutual. Also, despite the delay at the start of the show, Byeon Woo Seok’s efforts to make sure the fan meeting proceeded smoothly didn’t go unnoticed.
And now, we’ll share the highlights for the fan meeting, through keywords!
Byeon Woo Seok – model, actor, and SINGER
Byeon Woo Seok kicked off his fan meeting with Loveholic’s “Loveholic ” to the delight of many fans since it was the song played in Lovely Runner when Ryu Sunjae ran after the bus Im Sol was on in episode 2. He also showcased his vocals through the other songs from the Lovely Runner OST such as “I Think I Did” and “Sudden Shower” which may well be the most popular song of 2024! What other better way for him to showcase his knack for singing than perform in front of a real audience just like his reel character?
Watermelon Fanatic
When asked what he usually does during his free time, the self-confessed homebody shared that he would be resting on his sofa with a platter of fruits next to him as he prefers to stay home. He also shared about his love for watermelon during the fan segments, talking about how he got his fix of watermelon juice before the fan meeting, and also how he would like to have tteokbokki for lunch and watermelon for supper if he ever got to spend a day with Tong Tongs.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Friend
Byeon Woo Seok gave off comfortable friendly neighbourhood friend vibes during the entire fanmeeting!
Despite being clad in a bomber leather jacket with a textured crop hairstyle, the actor could not stay in his cool bad boy character and ended up smiling a lot. He also made himself feel at home on the sofa by gradually changing his postures from sitting upright to leaning against the cushions on the sofa. The actor also stopped at different parts of the stage to make sure that his fans could get pictures of him posing for them before he continued the show.
Sentimental Sweetheart
Though it might not be new to his fans, to witness Byeon Woo Seok on the verge of tears and continuously expressing his gratitude throughout the fan meeting was eye-opening. When the fan project video segment suddenly played on screen, the actor stared at the screen without much reaction at first. However, as the video progressed to fans’ messages, he struggled to fight back his tears before eventually succumbing to his emotions. Byeon Woo Seok only regained his composure after the fan project video ended, saying how he was caught off guard at the most unexpected time. He also showed his appreciation for the fan project by complimenting the cutely designed mailbox cake and thanked fans for the thoughtful & touching project.
During the re-enactment segment with lucky fans, the actor made sure that each of the fans understood their role when acting out the assigned scene from Lovely Runner, maintaining a respectful yet close distance with the fans during the short interaction. He also proactively asked the fans if he could get a selfie with them taken with his own phone! Talk about fan service.
Regardless of whatever new descriptions or nicknames he earns in the future, we hope that this actor without airs will continue to be the approachable, down-to-earth person who will continue to touch the hearts of many in the future.
