Korean-Canadian singer-songwriter JUNNY returned to Singapore for JUNNY TOUR 2024: {INTRO} DOPAMINE in Singapore. This performance came just 7 months after his previous performance in November 2023.
With a venue upgrade from the previous show venue, there was more space for JUNNY to explore creatively when it came to presenting his performance. With the inclusion of a projection screen and more stage lights to work with, the overall stage presentation for this tour added to the aesthetic elements to JUNNY’s show. We loved how the use of different backdrops matched the lyrics of the mood of the songs, although it was a bit of a pity that the spotlight left a shadow on JUNNY’s face.
It might come as no surprise to Junniverse as to how JUNNY would have his DJ friends tour with him for different performances. With DJ DAUL’s addition to this tour, there can be no other better way for JUNNY to start his show with one of the producers of his recent title track “RUSH”. Due to the nature of his “bop” tracks, JUNNY looked as if he was Peter Pan flying around on stage so that fans from all sides could see him better. With a crazy amount of stamina and occasional commentaries to greet his fans and introduce the next song, JUNNY breezed through at least eight songs including some of his classic hits like “Not About You”, “Optimist”, “Invitation” and songs from his latest album like “Taste”, “Here We Go Again” before he stopped to have a proper conversation with the crowd.
JUNNY’s effort to keep the energy high throughout the entire show did not go unnoticed. During his talk segments, JUNNY tried his best to hear the fans’ requests through the acapella song segment and react to their screaming. He even continued the conversation on stage while responding through the microphone for the rest of the room to hear.
The curation of the entire setlist was well-planned and we loved how JUNNY had a personal touch to all his talk segments. We want to add a special mention as to how he specially included a short mashup of one of his songs “Get Ya!” & Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” where his performance temporarily shifted the spotlight to DJ DAUL during the transition of songs in the mashup. JUNNY seemingly enjoyed the segment where he took song requests to perform not only his songs Boyhood, Switch, Darling and so on, but also eagerly asked fans to request songs he didn’t write such as DAY6’s You Were Beautiful and NCT Mark’s solo single 200.
With over 31 songs performed (including 2 encore songs) across 90 minutes, JUNNY TOUR 2024: {INTRO} DOPAMINE in Singapore definitely gave the audience the dopamine rush they needed. We also hope that JUNNY gets to play a longer show to a larger and even more energetic crowd in Singapore in his future shows.
