Back in Singapore as part of his ‘Vacation’ fanmeet tour and to promote his latest drama ‘Taxi Driver 2’, Lee Je-Hoon shared his thoughts on Singapore, reprising his role as Kim Do-gi, and taxi drivers recognizing him, when he met the media at a closed-door press conference.
Looking absolutely gorgeous in his black dress suit (complete with a black scarf and high-cut boots), Lee Je-Hoon looked effortlessly attractive as he posed for the media on-site.
Calling Singapore one of his favourite countries to visit, Lee Je-hoon revealed that he made two personal trips to our little red dot – once last year and the second time earlier this year – since Singapore was one of the first few countries that eased Covid-19 travel restrictions. However, the actor shared that he likes to keep things low-key and would go around in a short-sleeve shirt, shorts, and flip-flops, nothing too out of the ordinary from local Singaporeans.
Although Lee Je-hoon has been to many iconic places in Singapore, like Chinatown, what caught us by surprise was when he admitted that it was his first time in Sentosa since he enjoys exploring the city on foot and joked that “Sentosa is far to walk to”. He was therefore excited when he learnt that the press conference was going to be held in Sentosa.
In ‘Taxi Driver 2’, Lee Je-hoon plays Kim Do-gi, a deluxe taxi driver under Rainbow Taxi Company. The company offers a revenge call service who avenges wronged victims. On reprising his role as Kim Do-gi, he shared that he was really excited to film the second season as he got to film with the same cast members. As such, the atmosphere on set was largely happy and the filming went on smoothly.
He added that filming for the first season felt much lonelier as he had to film a lot of his scenes by himself. As for the second season, he had the opportunity to film more scenes with the other members in the Rainbow Taxi Company, thus the actor felt that it was a whole lot more fun.
Lee Je-hoon actually performed most of the driving stunts in the drama, which included lots of drifting, speeding, and plenty of dangerous stuff. He confessed that in the past, he was a safe driver who never goes over the speed limit. However, after taking on the role as Kim Do-gi, his character pops out at times and he has to remind himself that he is not Kim Do-gi to control his ‘impulsive side’ and to drive safely.
When asked if the actor had any interesting experience on a ride, he shared that he often takes taxis and private hire cars on Grab or Uber for his personal schedules. He recalled on numerous occasions where the taxi drivers belatedly recognized him after hearing his voice. He would thank them and conveniently make use of that opportunity to promote his drama.
