(x)clusive!: Mamamoo Bedazzle With Mumumumuch Non-stop Hits For ‘My Con’ Concert in Singapore

Finally, after an arduous few years of waiting, Kpop quartet Mamamoo (composed of Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa) was back on our sunny isle last week for their first world tour. The group showcased their unique colours over a three-hour-long concert filled with fan favourite hits and heart-touching ballads with snippets of hilarious and adorable moments.

Nearly A Decade Of Pop Hits

Mamamoo is known for their many charms: beagle-dols, fun ad libs, team chemistry… but we could all unanimously agree that Mamamoo shines best with a Mic On, standing where they belong – the stage.

With close to 10 years of repertoire as soloists and as a team, Mamamoo has given birth to endless hits that make a three-hour concert fly by like a breeze. The girls curated a whopping total of 35 hit tracks, ranging from jam-worthy dance tunes to sentimental ballads. That’s a crazy number, and Mamamoo pulled it off by integrating a handful of these tunes into three seamless medleys.

As this was their first world tour, Mamamoo specially made sure to include as many fan favourites as they could, including but not limited to, Mr. Ambiguous, Taller than You, Decalcomanie, Hip, and Starry Night.

To top it all off, the performances were very Mumumumuch live, and an utter eargasm to behold.

Having also made their official solo debuts respectively, the girls also dedicated a section of the songs to individual performances… but with a twist: performing each other’s songs instead! The audience buzzed in exhilaration as Solar grooved to the tempo of Watercolor, Hwasa brought the cool on with Eclipse, Wheein was as sweet as Honey, while Moonbyul showcased her sexy, chic side with Twit.

Moomoos Light Up The Theatre Like The Starry Night

A good part of what makes a concert enjoyable is the crowd’s energy, and Moomoos proved that they had what it takes to bring the house down with their passion! It was a pleasant surprise to find a full house on a weekday in a non-holiday period, and the deafening cheers undoubtedly added to the immersive experience. Moomoos were adept at singing along to every other tune and also remembering the fan chants to title tracks.

But what caught the girls’ attention the most was, no doubt, the thoughtful fan support. In the middle of the song ‘Star, Wind, Flower, Sun’, the sea of shining radishes turned into a floor of pink banners that held the fans’ heartfelt wishes: “언제 어디서든 함께할 테니, 우리 오래 만나자” (We’ll be with you anytime, anywhere. Let’s meet for a long time). The fan song was written by none other than Solar and Moonbyul, with the title affectionately symbolising the elements of each individual member.

“You have made this song even more special for us,” said Mamamoo, as they immediately requested a photo to be taken, hoping to commemorate the touching moment. However, Moomoos did not forget to show their cute side during the photo-taking session; as the girls countdown to pose, a loud handful of fans yelled: “CHIOBU” (pretty girl) instead of ‘cheese!’.

The Meaningful Ment

As the show ultimately drew to a close, the girls settled down to share their thoughts. “Even though we are physically apart, it feels like you guys (Singapore Moomoos) are always close to me. I’ll make sure to come back with new songs and meet you guys again,” said Hwasa, who had a great rest when she took a few days’ break in Singapore prior to the concert.

“I didn’t expect even the third floor to be filled,” Wheein started, gazing into the crowd. Mamamoo had sold out their Singapore concert, resulting in a second round to be added the following day. As she shared her gratitude for the fans’ boundless energy that also perked her up, she continued, “I know tomorrow will be amazing too. I promise to be back with new songs!”

“Even though it is a weekday, I’m so happy you guys are here. I only have good memories in Singapore… food, weather, Moomoos… everything is perfect. Thank you,” chimed Solar, who didn’t forget to add her seemingly newfound catchphrase, “Steady pom pi pi (keep calm and carry on/you’ve got this)!!”

Lastly, Moonbyul carried on the fun atmosphere, “Once I knew we were coming to Singapore, I sang ‘Singapura~ Singapura~” The member had a firm smile, as she too was assured by the Moomoo’s in Singapore thanks to their incredible energy. “We’ll meet again, right?!” She asked, which roused a loud agreement from the floor. As she nodded, Moonbyul also took the chance to showcase her Singlish skills, “Singapore shiok shiok (enjoyable/pleasing)!”
