We spent our Saturday evening with the rising actor-model, Hwang In Youp. With Singapore being his first stop after Seoul for his 2022 Hwang In Youp 1st Asia Fan Meeting Tour, Singapore fans have extended their most passionate and warm welcome to him.
The talented Hwang In Youp kicked off his Singapore fanmeeting right on time with the OST, “It Starts Today”, from the drama “True Beauty”. It sure does bring back a lot of memories as lots of fans got to know him from his character, Han Seojun, in this drama, which is also widely credited as his breakthrough role.
The actor had shared his excitement to meet his fans just after having been in sunny Singapore for just hours. His fans, also known as HIYILY (Hwang In Youp FamILY), in Singapore sure have made a deep impression on him with all the passionate greetings, daring confessions, and cute behaviour.
To commemorate Singapore’s 57th birthday, which is just slightly over a week after Hwang In Youp’s fanmeeting here, the actor was also put to the test to see how much he knows about Singapore. With a little bit of help from the fans, he got all six questions right! He also shared that it’s actually well-known in Korea that Singapore Botanic Gardens is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hwang In Youp also shared that he saw the iconic Merlion when he was having a stroll along the river the day before too! As a reward for getting all the questions correct, he was treated to a taste of Singapore’s local delights, the Kaya Toast and Teh Tarik! We could tell how much he enjoyed it when he gushed about how he’d love to bring these delicious food back to Korea with him.
The heartwarming evening was well spent with much fun between Hwang In Youp and his Singapore fans as he answered questions that all the fans were curious about, his experience and roles he had played, and his plans for his career as well, during the post-it notes segment. Fans had left him the notes before the fanmeeting, which were then shared with him on stage. The actor also said that he has been reading feedback from the fans, but as for his next character, he cheekily said that it will be a secret. One of the fans left a post-it note asking if Hwang In Youp could be her boyfriend and In Youp came with the cutest answer: he would be everyone’s boyfriend instead! HIYILYs, did you hear that?
During game time with the fans, he also gave handicaps to the fans so that they could win! Hwang In Youp is indeed very sweet and gentlemanly! There was also a fan who shared that she came from Malaysia, and In Youp just immediately said that she doesn’t have to win the game to get a polaroid with him since she already came all the way from Malaysia to see him. He’s surely a big sweetheart. Besides giving chances to the fans during game time, the way he asked for permission from her parents before he gave a young fan a hug also shows how much of a respectful and thoughtful person he is.
As Singapore was the first stop right after Seoul for his 2022 Hwang In Youp 1st Asia Fan Meeting Tour, the actor shared that there were a lot of things that were out of his expectation and surprise segments that he did not know about beforehand. So we also got to witness his true reaction to a lot of things!
Hwang In Youp also made a promise that he will come back to Singapore again. The fans have surely made a deep impression on him especially with his famous “Okey Dokey” dance. The actor said that in the future, when he thinks of Singapore fans, he’ll think of “Okey Dokey”.
To wrap up the 2022 Hwang In Youp 1st Fan Meeting in Singapore, the actor serenaded his fans with the song “I Mean It” from the drama “The Sound Of Magic”. He also said that the song, which is from the scene that he sang in the fields, is the most memorable for him.
We truly enjoyed the two hours with the sweet and talented Hwang In Youp at his 2022 Hwang In Youp 1st Fan Meeting in Singapore and hope everyone did too!
