Taeyang successfully held the Hong Kong stop of his 2017 World Tour ‘White Night’ at Hall 10 of Asia World-Expo on 24th September. The concert, being his last in Hong Kong before his enlistment, attracted not only VIPs, but also local celebrities such as Jacqueline Ch’ng, C ALLSTAR, Benny Chan, and radio DJ Pitar Leung. Prior to the Hong Kong stop, Taeyang was in Manila on 22nd September so it has been an hectic weekend for Taeyang. However, this doesn’t affect the global superstar’s performance, of course!
Beginning with ‘Ringa Linga‘, which he performed in a shimmering white jacket, Taeyang put on a show of all his fan favourites during the Hong Kong leg of his tour. The main vocalist of Big Bang greeted his Hong Kong fans with an explosion of stage fireworks, following up with new songs such as ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Darling‘, on top of classics like ‘Wedding Dress’ and ‘Only Look at Me’. In order to be closer to the fans, the international superstar spoke English to the audience, drawing loud cheers in response.
“多謝晒，我愛你！(Thank you, I love you!)”
Throughout the night, there were many sweet moments that Taeyang was able to share with the fans. The audience sang along to a slow rendition of ‘I Need a Girl‘, and Taeyang was very happy with the response. During a solo version of ‘Last Dance‘, he mentioned that this made him miss his fellow members of Big Bang and was thankful to the fans for supporting him for the past 10 years. To further express his gratitude, he even thanked the fans in Cantonese, saying “多謝晒，我愛你！(Thank you, I love you!)”.
“I will always remember tonight!”
Despite all the emotional moments, Taeyang also showed his playful and humourous side. He kept pretending to leave during the encore, causing VIPs to scream for him to stay amidst the laughter. The encore then proceeded with a Big Bang medley, and although Taeyang was alone for ‘Fantastic Baby‘ and ‘BANG BANG BANG‘, the fans’ response was still overwhelming. Taeyang then concluded the concert with ‘Eyes, Nose, Lips‘ and told VIPs that he “will always remember tonight”.
Hong Kong will definitely miss Taeyang too! And we hope he can visit us again after his enlistment, not only by himself, but hopefully also with the other members of Big Bang one day!
