The adorable members of TWICE – consisting of Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu – came Knock Knock knocking on our doors last weekend as they brought their first full-fledged concert “TWICELAND – The Opening” to Singapore!
Here are five highlights from the concert that left us wanting more!
#1 – Different Sides of TWICE members
The girls delighted the audience with a variety of performances at the concert which undeniably showed their different sides. From cutesy songs like ‘TT‘ and sweet ballads such as ‘Like a Fool‘ to dance covers of EXO’s ‘Overdose‘ and SEVENTEEN’s ‘Pretty U‘, one could totally tell the amount of effort TWICE put in to impress their fans.
#2 – Unit Stages
As a prelude to the unit stages, the girls teased the fans with a VCR where they discussed the various concepts that they would like to showcase at the concert. Ranging from a Girl Crush (read: sexy, cool and chic) concept performance to a dance cover of the classic ‘Black Cat‘ by Turbo to a solo piano performance by Dahyun, the girls did not disappoint and executed them well!
#3 – Interaction Time with Singapore ONCE
For the encore stage, instead of the usual shouting of “Encore! Encore!” in the dark, fans needed to complete various missions first. And ONCE thoroughly enjoyed this segment as you could see them jumping excitedly from their seats when they appeared on the screen as the ‘chosen one’ to clear the mission. It was no doubt refreshing and fun since it was a combined effort to get TWICE back on stage.
#4 – Singapore ONCE’s Video Gift to TWICE
As the girls got ready to take a photo with their fans, the screen started playing a video made by Singapore ONCE, which showed the group’s journey thus far and ONCE thanking the girls for simply existing as TWICE. You could tell that TWICE were really touched by the surprise, with some members having to wipe away their tears, especially when the video ended with a message asking the girls to look at the audience, where hand banners with the words “We will support TWICE” were raised. It was no doubt a heartwarming moment for both TWICE and ONCE!
#5 – Hit Song Medley for Encore
After singing their fan song ‘One in a Million‘, the girls did a medley of their hit songs ‘Like OOH-AHH‘, ‘Cheer Up‘ and ‘TT‘, which got the fans all excited again. Many ONCE even stood up during the encore stage to sing and dance along with TWICE. Were you one of them?
Although the concert was almost three hours long, the crowd’s energy remained high even towards the end and it felt like everyone could have continued throughout the night! Alas the show had to end but we’re sure the girls will be back to greet Singapore ONCE in the near future. Till then, we can at least take comfort in the fact that TWICE will be making their comeback soon with their new album ‘Signal‘! Are you ready to get the girls on the charts again?
