Were you at Plaza Singapura to catch the charismatic Park Hyung Sik and adorable Park Bo Young last month? The leads of hit drama ‘Strong Woman Do Bong Soon‘ were in town to meet their fans as part of the Korea Travel Fair 2017: Into Dramatic Korea.
Their explosive popularity could be seen by the fact that the whole mall came to a standstill during the event – with fans trying to catch a glimpse of the stars all the way up to the seventh storey!
Food, Glorious Food
This isn’t Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young’s first trip to Singapore since both had visited Singapore for other promotional events in the past – ZE:A Singapore Showcase 2010 and Korean Pop Night Concert 2010 for Park Hyung Sik and Oh My Ghost Drama Promotion for Park Bo Young.
Official schedules aside, did you know that Park Bo Young had visited our little isle with her sister for a vacation because she fell in love with Singapore after her first trip here to promote ‘Oh My Ghost‘? The actress even shared her favourite Singaporean dishes such as Laksa, Kaya Toast and Bak Kut Teh. Aren’t we all glad that the local delights mentioned are different as compared to the usual Chilli Crab?
On the topic of Korean food and what Korean dishes they would recommend, Park Bo Young suggested naengmyeon (cold noodle in chilled broth, usually served with beef slices) and shared that you have to eat both the beef slice and cold noodle in our mouth to get the full flavour of the dish. As for Park Hyung Sik, he recommended Kimchi Stew and jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) as he personally enjoys spicy food. Do remember to give these three dishes a try when you head to Korea then!
Shop Till You Drop
When you think about shopping in Korea, Myeongdong and Dongdaemun probably comes to your mind first as popular retail therapy destinations. However, Park Bo Young suggested Samcheong-dong, as it is an up-and-coming shopping district where one can find many unique boutique shops. Park Hyung Sik picked Hongdae as his recommendation as it is a place which is constantly bustling with life, and is also a place he enjoys and frequents often. Well, now you know where to hang out at when you’re in Korea the next time!
Future Plans
‘Strong Woman Do Bong Soon‘ received a lot of love both locally and internationally, and everyone is excited to know what projects the leads will take on next. Unfortunately, they are currently taking a break to recover so we may have to wait a while till we see them both on our screens again.
Meanwhile, for those who are already missing Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young, you can definitely binge watch ‘Strong Woman Do Bong Soon’ for free on VIU.
This event is brought to you by Korea Tourism Organization (Singapore).
