If one has to name some of the most memorable Korean dramas in 2016, one would not have to go on further in the galaxy than the Sun and Moon. “Descendants Of The Sun” headed by Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, as well as “Love In The Moonlight” starring Park Bo Gum and Kim Yoo Jung, were two top dramas which captured the hearts of audience both in Korea and worldwide, with TV ratings hitting an all-time high of 38.8% (highest of 2016) and 23.3% respectively. As such, it was no wonder that all eyes were on the annual 2016 KBS Drama Awards and who would win the prestigious Grand Award (Daesang) of the night.

Held at the KBS Hall at Yeouido, Seoul in South Korea, the award show brought together some of the top actors and actresses in the scene as both award presenters and awardees, as KBS celebrated their 30th anniversary of the award show. “My Love From the Star” star Kim Soo Hyun also graced the event as the presenter for the Grand Award, which he won the previous year for the said drama.

Much to the fans’ delight, Park Seo Joon and Park Hyung Sik who are starring in the current hot ‘pretty-boy’ drama “Hwarang” also made a surprise appearance to present the Best Actress for Mini-Series Award.

Song Joong Ki VS Park Bo Gum?

Child actress Heo Jung Eun, who took home the Best Child Actor Award of the night, was posed with this seemingly tough question onstage, after choosing Song Joong Ki over her onscreen father Oh Ji Ho. But she didn’t even needed a second to think – “Song Joong Ki.”

But as much as a Joong Ki fan she is, she ultimately picked her other onscreen father Park Shin Yang for his great care and acting skills. So we guess Park Shin Yang is the biggest winner of the night!

The Top Bromance of 2016 goes to…

If there was such an award, it would definitely be awarded to Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Gum. While Park Bo Gum was always seen smiling and nodding as Song Joong Ki received his awards, Song Joong Ki was spotted tearing up as he listened to Park Bo Gum’s prize acceptance speech after receiving the Best Actor of the Year Award. Bo Gum also cried during Joong Ki’s Daesang speech, and the boys gave each other a brotherly hug at the end to the ‘aww’s of the audience.
