Ode to My Father:
Date: 25th October 2015, Sunday
Time: 650PM
Venue: Shaw Theatres Lido
The story starts in the eye of 12-year-old Duk-soo (Hwang Jung-min) when he loses track of his youngest sister in the Hungnam Evacuation of 1951. Growing up, Duk-soo starts working odd jobs to support his aging mother and siblings, eventually working as Gastarbeiter (guest worker) in Germany. There, he meets his future companion, Young-ja (Kim Yun-jin), a fellow immigrant worker. Duk-soo’s return from Germany leaves little time for rejoices, as he soon finds himself heading off to war-torn Vietnam. It was only upon his return from the country did he embark on his final mission – to find his father and youngest sister who was separated over 30 years ago in Hungnam.
Northern Limit Line:
Date: 1st November 2015, Sunday
Time: 650PM
Venue: Shaw Theatres Lido
Northern Limit Line is a naval thriller film based on the real-life events of the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong. In June 2002, while South Korea is caught in sporting frenzy as the national soccer team plays against Turkey for third place in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the North Korean navy deploys two of their patrol boats towards the Northern Limit Line, a disputed maritime border near Yeonpyeong Island in the Yellow Sea. While carrying out its usual duties, South Korean patrol boat 357 suddenly finds itself under surprise attack. Stars Kim Mu-yeol, Jin Goo and Lee Hyun-woo.
