Skechers Sundown Festival 2014 is an iconic music festival which brings Asian artistes and fans onto one singular platform, celebrating and bridging the diverse Asian culture through music and food. Spreading and extending its reach every year, the festival in 2014 featured artistes from 11 countries, showcasing the best local artiste from each country. And this year, the six membered multi-national boy group, Cross Gene, was Korea’s representative act. It was also the group’s first time performing here in Singapore.
Cross Gene was one of the first few acts of the night and when their time to perform came, the members were greeted with loud cheers from the fans as the MC introduced them. They came out decked in their best stage costumes and started off their performance with their latest single, I’m Not A Boy, Not Yet A Man.
With the end of their first song, the boys gathered together for their greetings, starting from Sangmin and Yongseok who greeted the audience loudly. Shin greeted the audience next by spelling out his name (just in case the audience didn’t know how to). Moving on down the line, Cross Gene’s self-proclaimed gorgeous member, Takuya, greeted the fans and proceeded to ask (and I quote), “Everybody so high!?” multiple times with deafening cheers and a few giggles from the fans. The last two members, Seyoung and Casper, introduced themselves with Casper hyping up the crowd for their next few songs.
Cross Gene performed four more songs, namely Crazy, On the Floor, Shooting Star and Dirty Pop, and throughout the performances, all the members seemed really energized and hyper as they ran from one end of the stage to the other, greeting their fans (and cameramen) that they saw by waving and the throwing of hearts.
Even though this is the group’s first time performing in Singapore, Cross Gene did not disappoint with dance moves that were executed flawlessly and flashy vocals that were on point for every song, leaving fans wanting more. Everyone had a great time watching them and we hope to see Cross Gene back in Singapore soon!
