The four independent ladies of Miss A – comprising of Fei, Jia, Min and Suzy – had successfully completed The Independent Showcase in Singapore weeks back, belting to their hit tracks like ‘Good Bye Baby’ and ‘Bad Girl Good Girl’ as well as tracks from their newest mini-album, The Independent Part III. In the two-hour long showcase, the girls kept the hype up with solo-performances and ample fan interactions in between their group performances.
Of Hit Tracks and New Tracks
Starting off with their newest title track ‘I Don’t Need A Man’, the girls hyped up the arena with their live performance, bringing up another notch as they followed up with ‘Breathe‘. In casual denim, black and red outfits, the girls boast a youthful vibe as they continued with new tracks ‘Over You’ and ‘Time’s Up’.
After a series of solo performances and fan interactions, the girls went back on stage – in classic black and gold-embroidered outfits – as they put up a sweet ballad of ‘If I Were A Boy’, moving on to end with a bang with the song ‘Touch‘. With loud cheers of ‘encore’, the girls returned to the stage twice, performing to ‘Bad Girl Good Girl’ and finally ending with ‘Ma Style’, where they left the stage and went down to the aisles of the audiences’ seats to get up close with their fans.
Of Personal Treats – Solo Performances
All four of them put up a series of solo performances starting with Suzy, who danced to a mix of three songs, showing off her sexy and classy charms. Her performance was followed up by Fei’s rendition of ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’, original by Taylor Swift, showcasing her soothing vocals. Of course, she didn’t forget to include a mini dance break section, winning cheers and catcalls from the fans.
Min’s solo stage was a great surprise as she caught the audience’s attention with gold sparkles, flowing down from her jacket as she did a sexy and powerful dance solo to a remix. Lastly, Jia took the stage with her version of ‘As Long As You Love Me’, singing and rapping to Justin Bieber’s song with ease and charisma.
The Surprise Party
Seeing that member Jia’s birthday had just past in early February, the fans and the girls had a mini surprise party for her, singing the birthday song both in English and Mandarin after they’ve lighted the candles of the cake.
Saying that it was definitely a pleasant surprise, Jia shared one of her wish: that this year would be Miss A’s year. In the end, Fei couldn’t help but chip in, asking Jia to fulfill her own wish which she made up, on behalf of the fans as well. In the end, Jia did fulfill it with laughter, doing an impromptu rap of ‘Happy Birthday’ to herself, earning loud cheers from the fans.
With The Fans
There was also quite a bit of fan interactions throughout the showcase, and three special segments in which volunteers were picked to get a chance to win autographed albums, shirts and even a polaroid taken with the girls individually. Ranging from a mini dance ‘battle’ to the song ‘I Don’t Need A Man‘ as well as ‘Continue the Lyrics’ and answering a question to evaluate their knowledge of the girls, the fans handled each task with ease, all looking prepared as they also earned applause and thumbs up from the girls themselves for their effort.
Of course, no showcase could be complete without a little Q&A session, where the host asked the girls one by one on their impression of Singapore, their ideal types and dates and questions pertaining to their newest hit, such as the area they think they’re most independent in.
Several mentioned that they loved the people and the weather, as Jia commented that she prefers somewhere that is warm. Fei said that she love the passionate fans, and also the shopping.
Suzy commented that her ideal type is someone who screams the loudest when they perform, and soon enough fans were screaming in the hall, vying for her attention, in which she returned with a smile.
Jia said she’s rather on par with Fei in terms of cooking abilities, and states that her ideal date is one in which she could go out with her boyfriend, undisguised, holding hands and dressing all pretty for Valentines.
Fei also said that she’s a great cook, which is probably why Suzy named her as the ‘most independent’ woman among Miss A, and her ideal guy is someone who can make her happy, is tolerant and will give in to her.
Last but not least Min is looking out for someone with a beautiful heart that would accompany her on Valentines by having a video-game date and eating chocolates. And when it comes to being independent, she believes that it is most important to have great self-esteem, telling her fans to that they “gotta love yourself” and “be proud of yourselves, to be happy and just love yourselves.”
Speaking in both English and Mandarin, the girls did relatively well with little help from the translator as they interacted with the hosts and the fans, doing great fanservice by saying that they love the Singapore fans and promises to return should they have the chance to do so.
Miss A’s second showcase in Singapore had definitely been a blast and hopefully Say As will get to meet them here again soon as the girls promised.
