Boyfriend, consisting of Donghyun, Hyunseong, Minwoo, Jeongmin, Youngmin and Kwangmin, was back in Singapore with their first solo Asia Fan Meeting last Saturday, 16 March. Check out as (x)clusive recounts the two-hour event, which was no doubt filled with fun interactions and great performances!

Donning their classic black and red Janus outfits, the boys break it down to a remixed-version of their hit track, hyping up the crowd of 1200 , right from the start.

After a quick introduction, the boys sat down for a Q&A session when they shared that they felt good to be back in Singapore, and how they miss their fans the most. Youngmin mentioned about wanting to visit the Merlion, and leader Donghyun took the chance to say he was interested in visiting a Singapore club, going forth to show off the moves he was planning to do, eliciting strong responses from both the crowd and his members as they followed suit.

Moving on to talk about their latest album, Boyfriend talked about taking one step at a time and finally releasing their first official album. The members were then prompted to say ‘I Love You’ in various languages, like Donghyun in Japanese, Youngmin in Mandarin and eventually the MC taught them the Singlish slang for describing pretty girls, immediately raising the boys’ interest as they followed suit.

The Singlish teaching session was cut short as Boyfriend got ready to perform two of their promotional tracks, ‘Don’t Touch My Girl’ and ‘I’ll Be There.’ Member Minwoo didn’t miss the chance to send hearts to the fans, eliciting screams with his cute gestures.

While the audience were given opportunities to win autographed prizes by answering a quiz, the boys got ready for their solo stages. Starting with Donghyun, the leader danced and sang to his song ‘Listen‘, rousing the audience’s attention with his cute moves and flower-patterned outfit, before he invited a lucky fan on stage, serenading her. Following after was Hyunseong. In a striking red suit, the member danced and sang to his solo song ‘Trippin‘, earning loud cheers from the fans. Jeongmin performed his solo song as well, titled ‘My Dear’. Greeting the audience with cute English, he put on a dashing performance which includes a short piano solo, serenading Bestfriends with his soothing voice.

Instead of putting up vocal performances like the other members, Youngmin, Kwangmin and Minwoo opted for a dance stage. The twins put up a collaboration stage by dancing to Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’, including a ‘dance battle’ sequence as they showed their moves individually and then together. At the end of it, Minwoo appeared, capturing the audience’s attention as he stepped on stage. With confidence, he danced to Wale’s ‘Bait‘, showcasing his sharp moves to the strong beats.

While Boyfriend got ready backstage, a video of them goofing around in the behind-the-scenes of Janus music video, had the fans laughing and squealing at their cute interactions. After which, they went back on stage as a group in black and white outfits, for a ballad number ‘Go Back’ as fans waved along to the song.

During the second interview and prize giving segment, Donghyun shared that while practicing for solo it can be tough, “I only looking forward to the result”, and was glad that the performances were met with cheerful responses.

Lucky fans who answered the questions got to walk away with autographed CDs and towels. Some also got extra fan-service with complimentary hugs, and the biggest prize winner was the fan who walked away with a personal polaroid taken with Donghyun from his solo performance earlier on.

Fans also took the chance to plan an event, seeing how it was Donghyun’s birthday the month before. A video-montage of the leader was played on the screen, followed by the customary birthday cake and singing of the birthday song in both English and Korean. Amidst the celebratory mood (and the members loud ‘cries’ in attempt to show their gratefulness to the event), Donghyun thanked the fans and wished for this moment to last forever.

Proceeding on, they continued with ‘Love Style’. At the end of it, they bid goodbye to the fans in English, commenting that it was “so happy to see you all” and thanked the fans before their last song played – none other than their latest hit, ‘I Yah’.

Of course, fans wouldn’t just let the boys go without an encore stage, and after continuous chants and cheers from the audience, Boyfriend hyped up the venue for one last time with debut track ‘Boyfriend‘. The boys went from one end to the other end of the stage, jumping and interacting with each other and not forgetting to give countless fan-service like heart-shape gestures, flying kisses, and a lucky fan got a Donghyun selca on her phone. In their excitement, fans stood up from their seats, and by their last song ‘Super Hero’ everyone was singing and chanting along, ending the fan meet with a bang and the boys expressed their wish to return again.

Boyfriend will continue their Asia Fan Meeting, with Taiwan and Jakarta as their next stops. So to all Bestfriends who had missed their exciting performances and their adorable antics on stage, this is one fanmeet you definitely wouldn’t want to miss.

A big thank you to Launch Group for extending the media invite to (x)clusive. Do remember to follow them on Twitter and Facebook for latest updates on their events.
