As part of KpopGaga‘s intiative to promote new talent, Singaporeans were treated to a free showcase from Superstar K2’s finalist Kim So Jung and yet-to-be-debuted girl group Girlfriend at Cathay Cineleisure last month! Superstar K2 Finalist – Rising star Kim So Jung
Those who have caught Season 2 of one of Korea’s most watched auditions programme Superstar K will not find her a stranger – Kim So Jung, a finalist in the Top 11, recently dropped her new single BLAP and was in town to promote it.

Known for her OST participation in the drama Queen Inhyun’s Man, she also performed the song “You Have Come” to the delight of many present at the venue.

Seeing her showing her strong vocals and dance moves with confidence onstage, it was hard to imagine how it was like on her road to stardom. Her family opposed her dream to become a singer at first, even though she had the passion for it since young.
“I had always been looking for a chance to become a singer, and always had a heart which yearned to join all kinds of auditions. Superstar K was a great opportunity,” she shared, “I met with my parents’ strong opposition at first, but knowing I had this dream since young and seeing my hard work and development on Superstar K, and also me being happy as well, they support me now no less than anyone else and want me to work even harder.”
Three words to describe Kim So Jung? “Dreams Come True,” she said; with her working towards her dreams daily and finally achieving her dreams, there were no other words more fitting for her. A word of advice for those who wish to follow their dreams to become a singer, or even joining Superstar K4 – “Even though it may be a nervous experience at audition, just give it your best shot and do what you love with confidence – that is how you’ll be able to gain recognition and love.”
It wasn’t her first time visiting Singapore – she actually had been here three times! She loves this city and enjoys the food and interacting with the people as well. Leaving a message for her Singaporean fans, Kim So Jung promised to keep working harder and present an even better image after every new song and performance. “I want to show an image that I’m always a singer who will work hard, and there’s a lot I haven’t had the chance to show, so I hope everyone will know and remember me as the singer to be anticipated.” “It will be great if everyone can continue to support me! Thank you!” she ended with smile.
Following on, there are plans for Kim So Jung to release her album in Japan, and she will also be working on her next album, expected to be released at the end of the year or early next year.
Upcoming new girl group – Girlfriend
Don’t mistake them with Starship Entertainment’s boy group Boyfriend; the 4 bubbly girls from Girlfriend have yet to officially make their debut but are already gaining fans for their cheerful and bubbly personality. The members of Girlfriend consist of leader Jaein, Haei, Mizi and youngest “maknae” Yoa. The girls presented their new song, Fiesta, at the KpopGaga Preview show at Cathay Cineleisure for the first time – check it out:

The girls even had the chance to travel around Singapore to film their music video, that’s something to look forward to! We’re anticipating what kind of charms Girlfriend will bring to the table? Keep an eye out for their debut!
