Having gained popularity since drama, God of Study, actor Lee Hyun Woo‘s fame shot once more when he took up the role of Cha Eun Gyeol in his latest work – To The Beautiful You. Known for his cheerful personality and charming smile, Lee Hyun Woo attracted hundreds of fans, who just wanted to catch a glimpse of this charismatic actor, at Suntec City’s Entertainment Atrium on a Monday evening.
Screams filled the atrium when Lee Hyun Woo appeared and he promptly greeted the crowd in English, Korean, Mandarin and Malay, along with his signature smile. Thereafter, a short Question and Answer section was held on stage and Lee Hyun Woo shared his thoughts on how similar he was to his role in To The Beautiful You – more than 90% similarity in fact – being pure, honest and very sincere, how he would charm a girl with a smile and a wink and how he enjoys taking selcas too. He even spontaneously demonstrated a few of his usual selca poses – “Bbuing-bbuing” (뿌잉뿌잉), V-sign and a couple heart – when being urged by the event’s emcee, Ah Ken of Radio 1003.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the moment when Lee Hyun Woo was prompted to demonstrate his signature ‘귀여워song’ (The “Cute song” he sang in the drama). He sang the first two lines and then encouraged those present to join in with him, garnering cheers and endless screams.
Local delicacies – chicken rice, sinchow beehoon and rojak – were also specially prepared for Lee Hyun Woo since his schedule was really tight and he joyfully tasted all three of them. Screams of jealousy could be heard from many when Lee Hyun Woo fed Ah Ken a piece of rojak, probably hoping that the one being fed was them instead.
Five fans who were chosen prior to Lee Hyun Woo‘s arrival were then invited to stage to join the actor for the much anticipated ‘귀여워song’ game. When asked to choose one winner for a hug and a photo opportunity, he mentioned that all did really well and that all five are winners in his heart. As such, all five managed to snag a hug and a photo with this charismatic actor.
The short fanmeet ended with Lee Hyun Woo thanking those who were present and hoping that he will have another opportunity to visit Singapore again.
