Interested to witness the fusion between K-Pop and Chinese Orchestra? Fret not because Nanyang Polytechnic Chinese Orchestra (NYPCO) goes KPOP this November with hit songs by DBSK, 2AM, SNSD, T-ARA, IU, BEAST, JYJ, Super Junior and more!
Formed 15 years ago, NYPCO has grown to a 155-member strong performing group comprising current students and alumni. Helmed by Conductor Mike Chiang, the orchestra constantly breaks out of traditional modes of Chinese music, exploring diverse repertoires over a range of genres such as Western Classical, Chinese and Japanese pop to name a few.
At Esplanade’s Yfest last year, NYPCO performed a medley of Korean Pop music and the responses to this new avenue of experiencing K-Pop were nothing but positive.
Check out this video of the K-pop medley that was performed last year and try to see if you can identify the hit songs!
