Super Junior Galaxy S Showcase and Press Con Photos!
Hit-making Korean idol group Super Junior arrived on local shores on 6 June afternoon for a half-day stay to launch Samsung’s new phone, Galaxy S, and to meet local fans briefly at an exclusive showcase at the newly opened Marina Bay Sands Convention Hall.
Proudly known as Galaxy S, it hopes to bring its users an experience out of the world. Equipped with 4″ Super Amoled screen, not only can users enjoy the clearest live streaming of TV channels without lag, the Android V2.1 and HD video recording cum playback features adds to the reasons for anyone to get a Galaxy S.
For a phone like Galaxy S, it is only appropriate for super idols like Super Junior to endorse it. At the press conference, the 9 boys (minus youngest Kyuhyun who was recovering from surgical operation in Korea) showed off their humour and fun side. Leader Leeteuk headed the conversation, constantly praising the beauty and mobility of the phone. Eunhyuk and Sungmin constantly posed with the phone while joker Shindong and Donghae played with the functions of the phone – taking photos, twittering, and constantly contributing to the conversation by amplifying sounds of applause from the phone itself.
When asked what Super Junior was best at other than singing and dancing, Ryeowook mentioned writing songs, while Leeteuk described himself best at using Galaxy S to call, message and Twittering, proclaiming: “My best friend Galaxy S, my father Samsung, my mother Singtel. I love Singapore!”
“There’s nothing we don’t do,” said Leeteuk, about whether there was anything Super Junior was afraid to do on broadcast. Shindong immediately responded that they had dressed up as girls and more, and recently they even started their own online variety show, the content being splashing water on whoever who falls asleep outside their dormitory.
There was a minor show of sweetness when the microphone passed around for questions did not work – Siwon immediately crossed the stage and offered his own, surprising the crowd. Super Junior is indeed a fun yet loving bunch!
Singapore is the first country in the world Samsung Galaxy S is launched in, just as it was Super Junior’s first trip to Singapore for performance. Fans have been queuing since 6.30PM the day prior to the showcase and they were not let down. The 9 boys, even with the absence of the youngest Kyuhyun, brought the hall alive with their hit song Bonamana. It was followed by Yesung’s solo It Has To Be You from K-Drama Cinderella Sister, and then Super Junior-T’s Rokkugo. A crazy Super Junior-H’s Pajama Party erupted onstage when all of them ran around the stage pulling faces and dancing funnily. There was a point of time when Siwon took a video camera from a cameraman offstage and took over the filming, making the crowd go crazier as he filmed the crowd and his fellow members.
Prior to the start of the showcase, fans had prepared a mini birthday celebration for birthday boy Ryeowook, whose birthday falls on the 21st of June. After the cake was brought out, fans sang the birthday song in Korean, bringing a surprised smile on his face. The Super Junior boys played around with the cake after that by smearing cream on one another’s faces, and fans joined in the fun as the hosts offered a bit of the cake downstage.
All good things have to come to an end, as Super Junior ended the showcase with the number one Korean Pop song in Asia – Sorry Sorry. The stage felt a little empty at this point of time as the 9 boys covered the originally 12-men performance, but nonetheless it was exhilarating to watch them do this famous dance live.
This will not be the last time Singapore fans will see of them though. As reported on Straits Times, Super Junior will be back next year to local shores with the 3rd Asia Tour: Super Show 3. As Leeteuk says, “If you just ask or call us to come back, we will come back quickly to meet you.” Super Junior has heard the call from Singapore fans, so do watch out for them really soon!
Note: Below the cut I’ve included more photos you have not seen from the Press Conference (: Enjoy!
haahaha at the eunhae:D
Isn’t it supposed to be ‘My UNCLE, Singtel.’ ? :O
It’s “my mother” if you listen carefully. The subber probably made a mistake. I was there at the press conference and heard it live. ^^
Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll
just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new
to the whole thing. Do you have any tips for beginner blog writers?
I’d definitely appreciate it.
