We meet the Dragon Blade cast again for their short red carpet fan event held at NEX, where they played judge for a couple of fans who re-enacted out scenes from the movie (where lucky fans got a group shot with the cast), talked why you should catch their movie, and wish their fans a Happy Lunar New Year!
Right from the start, the cast spotted wide smiles as they strode down the red carpet, greeting fans warmly with high-touches and waves; Adrien Brody even whipped out his mobile phone to record the passionate crowd, stating later that it was the first time he’s ever seen such a scene being played out at the mall, “Wow, this is a shopping experience. I’ve never seen so many people at a mall!”
Taking the microphone on stage, big-brother figure Jackie Chan didn’t forget to ask the crowd to stop pushing, and to take care of their safety first, before sending out sound kisses to the crowd for their love and support, wishing the Singapore fans a Happy New Year on behalf of the team. Hollywood A-list actor John Cusack even greeted the fans in dialect (with the help of the two MCs); actress Lin Peng complimented Singapore’s good food with a thumbs up, while Mika Wang gave a short and sweet shout out of “Singapore, I love you!”.
Of course we couldn’t forget K-Pop superstar Choi Siwon, whose fans filled the mall with their passionate screams of support. In fluent Mandarin, the charming star introduced himself as ‘everyone’s husband’, before throwing a couple of quick phrases for fans to chorus in answer. Upon see this unplanned synchronization, even Jackie Chan couldn’t help but express his surprise – check out the short exchange below!
On the movie, John Cusack said that it was a well-produced movie with a great cast and lots that’s bound to make the movie enjoyable, while Jackie Chan assured fans that if you like his previous movies, this is one more to add onto the to-watch list. Playful Adrien Brody added, after demonstrating some action moves, that it’s a must-watch since the fans will get to “see him live his childhood fantasy come true and do a martial arts scene with the greatest martial arts actor in the world, Jackie Chan”. Siwon elaborated that a lot of effort has went into the production of the movie, but not without adding “I love you guys, I know you guys will watch it,” showing his faith in ELFs’ consistent support.
With a final well-wishes to fans for a great Lunar New Year, the crew rushed down all the way to Vivocity for the gala premiere, where another batch of eager fans are waiting. Here, the cast not only introduced the movie and greeted fans on the red carpet, they also went into the separate theatres to greet and take photos with the audience and lucky winners.
