Fans of Lee Min Ho would have noted that rockers Royal Pirates will be joining the Korean heartthrob for his global tour Re: Minho. At the concert, the band is slated to perform their hit tracks alongside Lee Minho, set to leave a strong impression on the audience with their special stage. This marks their second collaboration, as Royal Pirates was invited as guest performers for Lee Minho’s ‘My Everything’ concert back in January and March.

In light of the upcoming Lee Minho Global Tour 2014 [Re: Minho] Singapore in November, here’s an introduction to this three-piece rock band.

Who are Royal Pirates?

Formed in Los Angeles, California, singer-songwriter-trio rock band Royal Pirates consists of Moon (Vocal and Guitar), James (Bass) and Sooyoon (Drum). Their name signifies an aim to follow the ‘royal’ lineage of rock bands and aspirations to be a legendary rock band of their time, while following the free spirit as a ‘pirate’ on their adventure to create music that transcends the boundaries of time and space.

Royal Pirates made their official debut in Korea with digital single ‘Shout Out’ back in 2013, but K-Pop fans might have heard of their various K-Pop covers, where the band (then performing as a duo before James’ addition late in 2009) adds their own touch of rock to popular pop songs such as Girls Generation’s ‘Tell Me Your Wish’, TVXQ’s ‘Mirotic‘ and Wonder Girls’ ‘Nobody‘. The talented trio writes their own music, and Sooyoon recently composed and penned the title track of their second EP, ‘Love Toxic‘.

Since their debut, Royal Pirates has been steadily making their mark on the K-pop industry, performing on various rock festivals both within Korea and internationally. All three members have also been actively ventured onto variety, hosting and radio shows, showcasing their individual charms to the public.

Their latest release, ‘Love Toxic’, is a playful rock-infused dance track, and is available for download HERE.
