Cheongwadae which is also known as The Blue House because of its blue roof tiles. The Blue House is built upon the site of the royal garden of Joseon Dynasty and is now the official residence of the South Korean President.
Just across the street from the Cheongwadae is the newly opened Cheongwadae Sarangchae. The term Sarangchae refers to a place designated to receive guests in a traditional Korean home. It is an exhibition and museum that gives visitors insight into the culture of Korea, the history of Seoul, what made Seoul it is today and the future of Seoul.
If you are interested in heading to the Cheongwadae Sarangchae, you will be happy to know that the admission is free and is open from 9am to 6pm. Do take note that Cheongwadae Sarangchae is close on Mondays.
Directions to Cheongwadae Sarangchae:
Take subway line 1 or 2 to City Hall Station Exit #7 -> Take a bus #8000 at the bus stop in front of City Hall -> Take off at Cheongwadae Fountain
